ASO: Who is he?
The ASO is the operator who carries out activities aimed at assisting the dentist and healthcare professionals in the dental sector during clinical services. He prepares the environment and the instruments, takes care of welcoming customers, managing the secretariat and relations with suppliers and collaborators.
ASO: Where do you work?
The ASO carries out its activity in private dental practices and in healthcare facilities that provide odontostomatological services.
It operates on an independent basis and carries out its activity in collaboration with the dental team, following the instructions of healthcare professionals.
How to become an ASO
The ASO is the operator in possession of the Certificate obtained following attendance of a specific professional training course, authorized by the regional PA responsible for the territory and implemented by accredited training bodies.
The Certificate is issued following passing a final exam and has legal value throughout the national territory.
The course lasts 700 hours, of which 300 of theory and exercises and 400 of internship. The legislation establishes the obligation to attend at least 90% of the course hours.

Certification Issued
Certificate of qualification to the profession of Dental Practice Assistant issued by the Lazio Region - upon passing the final exam - valid throughout the national territory and recognized in European Union countries.

The figure of Dental Practice Assistants is increasingly in demand at a national level. The ASO works in dental practices/clinics carrying out activities aimed at assisting the dentist. The new profile can also work in public and private clinics and ASL.
