ASO: Who are they?
The ASO (Dental Assistant) is the operator who carries out activities aimed at assisting the dentist and dental health professionals during clinical procedures. They prepare the environment and instruments, manage client reception, handle secretarial duties, and maintain relationships with suppliers and collaborators.
ASO: Where do they work?
ASOs work in private dental practices and in healthcare facilities that provide dental and stomatological services.
They operate as employees and carry out their activities in collaboration with the dental team, adhering to the instructions of healthcare professionals.

How to become an ASO
An ASO is an operator who holds a Certificate obtained after attending a specific professional training course, authorized by the competent regional Public Administration and implemented by accredited training bodies.
The Certificate is issued upon passing a final exam and has legal validity throughout the national territory.
The course lasts 700 hours, of which 300 are theoretical and practical exercises, and 400 are internships. The regulations stipulate mandatory attendance for at least 90% of the total course hours.

Certificate Issued
Certificate of qualification for the profession of Dental Assistant issued by the Lazio Region – upon passing the final exam – valid throughout the national territory and recognized in European Union countries.

The role of Dental Assistant is increasingly in demand nationwide. The ASO works in dental practices/clinics assisting the dentist. The new profile can also work in public and private clinics and ASLs (Local Health Authorities).
