Job security

Safety in the workplace consists of a whole series of prevention and protection measures (technical, organizational and procedural) which must be adopted by the employer, his collaborators (managers and supervisors) and the workers themselves. These measures have the aim of improving working conditions, reducing the possibility of injuries to company employees, other workers, external collaborators and those who are found, even occasionally, within the company. Hygiene and health protection measures must be adopted in order to protect the worker from possible damage to health from occupational diseases, as well as the general population itself and the environment. In Italy, health and safety at work are regulated by Legislative Decree 81/2008 and subsequent amendments. This decree, which has had many historical regulatory precedents (dating back to 1955 and 1956) and more recent ones (Legislative Decree 626/1994), implements in Italy the European Directives on the protection of the safety and health of workers, coordinating them in a single regulatory text, which provides specific sanctions for non-compliers. The omission of precautions in this regard results in both the criminal liability of the employer and the right to compensation for damages in favor of the employee.
